In booking our shore excursions ahead of time, we put a LOT of thought into which ones we wanted to do. There is so much to see and experience at each stop, that you can’t possibly do it all. For our stop in Malaga, Spain, we (mostly Pam) wanted to travel to Granada and visit Alhambra, a famous palace and fortress. That excursion filled up very quickly though, so we got put on the waitlist.

As our second choice, we picked a trip to Ronda and the White Villages, which included visiting the world’s oldest bullfighting ring and buildings literally built into the side of a mountain.

That excursion was canceled weeks before we set sail, so then we had to pick a third choice. We picked a 4×4 adventure through a national forest in Spain that seemed like lots of fun. No history of the area, but we thought after being on a ship for a week and a half, riding through the forest would be a nice change.

As luck would have it, on day 3 of our trip, they told us they were able to add an early morning tour to Granada and Alhambra and we were no longer on the waitlist. They said they added it because of a special guest, which is intriguing. We then had to decide between Alhambra and the 4×4 adventure, and anyone who knows us, knows we love off-roading and nature. But the history of the area won out, and we decided to go to Granada and Alhambra.
