Life at Sea

So how are we spending our days at sea? Mostly relaxing! We have gone through 6 time changes since we started, so our days have basically been 23 hours long instead of 24. You wouldn’t think that makes much of a difference, but it does!

Relaxing in the Crow’s Nest
They always have a puzzle or two you can work on at the top deck at the bow of the ship. A nice place to hang out.

We have found a favorite afternoon spot for us is on the upper pool deck in a comfortable booth overlooking the pool. There are only 4 of these on the ship, yet there is always one available when we want one. We bring a deck of cards or a board game, get lunch at the Dive In or NY Pizza and Deli, order some drinks, and hang out there for a couple hours people watching, enjoying the sun and each other.

Russell didn’t think that was a very good word for this trip!
Na Zdrowie! (Cheers in Polish)

We also enjoy doing laps on the track on the upper deck or walking around the outside of the ship on deck 3 (which isn’t as windy).

12 laps = 1 mile

We found the service dog relief area on our walks! Gator would have loved this vacation!

We have found that the ping pong tables are always available as well. They also have pickle ball courts, but we decided not to try that for the first time on a long vacation where there will be a a lot of walking, in case one of us has an accident.

The scavenger hunt around the ship was a lot of fun! We had a half hour to get as many items on the list as possible. We came in 3rd place!

There have been a few shows and talks we have attended during the day, our favorite being the talks with the captain and the head engineer. The captain said this has by far been his smoothest ocean cruising ever! We have attended the talks on quantum physics (which are unbelievable popular with this crowd!), but they get a little too mind boggling for me!

The captain of our ship is from Ireland

Of course, we can’t get away from work completely, so part of our day is spent doing office work in our suite. We are so very fortunate to have a phenomenal team of employees at Hyatt Survey that are more than capable of holding down the fort while we are away. We thank all our field and office guys and girls immensely!

A lot of time is spent hanging out on our balcony. It’s a perfect place to read or just be outside watching the waves.

Nothing like a good book!

One of the perks of having a suite is having access to the Neptune Lounge with a full time concierge. We have used this lounge quite a lot for all our general questions, to book shore excursions, and even to get aloe for our sunburn! It’s like our own personal guest services.

They have lots & lots of books and games

The suite guests also have their own private dining room, Club Orange, which is mainly where we eat at night. The food is cooked right in front of us in an open kitchen, it is never crowded and they have a few different specials each night that the main dining room doesn’t offer.

Mimosas for breakfast are included

After dinner we watch a few of the musicians, the dueling pianos, or the comedian. And before we know it, the day is over!
