Monaco

We only had a two hour drive today, so we decided to explore around Monaco a little more.

We had breakfast on the rooftop terrace of our hotel

We wanted to go to the Oceanographic Museum which is located in the old town of Monaco about a mile away up on a hill. Only residents are allowed to drive through there, so we took the local bus.

Nurse shark
Octopus
I could have watched this turtle all day!
One of the first submarines. All manually operated.

After the Oceanographic Museum, we decided to walk down the hill. It was a beautiful walk and such a nice day.

View of the marina from up high
This would be a great place to watch the race

With our admission to the Oceanographic Museum we also got admission to the car museum, so we headed there.

Russell was excited to see the cars
1964 Aston Martin Goldfinger Edition
Formula 1 cars

We continued our walk back to the hotel

Beautiful flowers everywhere
Overlooking a smaller marina
We stopped for lunch at a local burger place

Once we got back to the hotel we headed for our next stop over, Savona, Italy.

We have found that in France and especially in Spain, restaurants close from 3:30 until 7:00 or 8:00 and then stay open real late. We were tired and just wanted a quick meal, so we decided to go down to the marina area and grab a bite to eat. We wound up at The Ranch. Russell got tagliata, thin sliced steak, and I got pulled pork fajitas. Both were good.

Of course we had to stop for ice cream afterwards!
